Prime Minister Stephen Harper with Senator Thanh Hai Ngo ( Canada )

September 25, 2012 – Today, the Honourable Thanh Hai Ngo was officially sworn in as a Senator. Senator Ngo becomes the first Canadian of Vietnamese Heritage to be appointed to the Senate of Canada. He will serve as a Senator representing the province of Ontario. A former Citizenship Judge, Senator Ngo moved to Canada in 1975 after fleeing communist terror in Vietnam.
